Minecraft: Pocket Edition (3DS)
Minecraft

Project Title 3DS Minecraft Pocket Edition 1.7.3 (Open-Source Prototype / Demo)
-
Project Overview This is an open-source 3DS homebrew prototype that aims to port Minecraft Pocket Edition Beta 1.7.3 to the Nintendo 3DS. It is a work-in-progress and not a fully playable port. The project explores what is possible within the 3DS hardware limits (CPU, GPU, memory) and provides a legal foundation for experimentation.
-
Features Procedural Voxel Terrain Generation – Create small block-based worlds automatically. Simplified Greedy Meshing – Reduces geometry complexity for faster rendering. Minimal Citro3D Framework – Placeholder rendering pipeline for 3DS graphics. Cross-Platform Testing – Can run on Citra emulator or actual 3DS homebrew. Open-Source & Legal – No copyrighted Minecraft assets are included.

Installation / Build Instructions Requirements devKitPro + devKitARM toolchain Citro3D library (included in devKitPro) Optional: Citra emulator for testing without a 3DS Steps Clone the repository: git clone https://github.com/YOUR_USERNAME/3DS-MCPE-1.7.3-Prototype.git cd 3DS-MCPE-1.7.3-Prototype Build the demo: make Run on Citra emulator: Open TARGET.elf or TARGET.3dsx Run on 3DS: Copy .3dsx to the SD card, launch via Homebrew Launcher Optional: Use the included make_cia_and_qr.sh script to package a .cia for FBI installation.
-
Usage Launch the demo. Procedural terrain will generate automatically. Console will print quad count for the generated mesh. Start exploring: you can modify voxel dimensions, meshing algorithm, or rendering pipeline.
-
Contributing We welcome contributions! You can help by: Improving the greedy meshing algorithm Adding terrain types or textures (legal placeholders) Optimizing performance on 3DS Extending features for a more playable prototype Steps for contributing: Fork the repository. Create a new branch for your changes. Submit a pull request with detailed explanations.
